Overview

Qontext Tag puts Qontext inside a tool your team already works in. In Slack, you tag @Qontext in a channel or a thread and it answers from your context repository: the place where Qontext keeps your company knowledge structured and current, so it serves your agents as a source of truth. The answer to most questions asked in Slack already exists somewhere: a document, a CRM record, an earlier thread. Finding it means leaving the conversation or interrupting whoever knows. Qontext Tag answers in place, from one source that stays current.
Slack can also work in the other direction. As a data source, Slack syncs messages and thread replies from the channels you choose into your context repository. See Slack as a data source.

How it works in Slack

Add @Qontext to a question in any channel or thread it belongs to. It searches your context repository and answers as a threaded reply. Follow-up questions in the same thread keep context.

What Qontext Tag can do

  • Answer from everything in your context repository, in the thread where you asked
  • Answer in any channel it has been added to
  • Hold a conversation: follow-ups keep context
Its boundaries:
  • Read-only. It never changes your context repository. To write context, use the Qontext app, the API, or an MCP client.
  • It only posts its own replies. It never edits or deletes anything in Slack.
  • Slack history is not automatic. It answers from Slack conversations only if you sync those channels as a data source.
While Qontext Tag is in early access it reads every file and folder in the workspace when it answers: access controls do not scope it per user or per group yet. Answers are posted where the question was asked, so everyone in that channel can see them.
